About this experience
I invite you to embark on a car journey across Absheron. You will get acquainted with its cultural and historical diversity, appreciate the natural attractions, learn about the important role of this region in global trade. And through the example of the city of Sumgait, you will study the development of the peninsula's surroundings.
What to Expect
Ateshgah Fire Temple
Built on ancient sites where natural fires once emerged, it once fascinated local fire worshippers, and later many celebrities: Mendeleev, Vereshchagin, Dumas, and other famous personalities. You will learn why this landmark is still one of the most popular tourist routes.
Yanardag Fire Mountain
This place will help you understand why Azerbaijan is known as the 'land of fires' and why the religion of Zoroastrians flourished here. The guide will tell you how during the first oil boom, oil derricks were built and why the 'burning mountain' has preserved its natural flame.
Sumgait City
Emerged from a small fishing village on the Great Silk Road route, it surprises with its uniqueness and contrasts, stretching along the modern waterfront. Strolling along the local promenade, you will trace the development of infrastructure, take memorable photos by the sea, and learn legends about the city's origin.
