What to Expect
Atmosphere of the Old City
Let's start our tour with the Icheri-Sheher quarter - a UNESCO heritage site. We will stroll through ancient streets (frequently used as filming locations, for example, scenes from 'Diamond Arm'), explore castles, mosques, and fortress walls. We will tell you about significant events that have taken place here, famous people, and the traditions of the people. Additionally, you will learn about the technologies used in building construction, architecture, and cultural heritage.
Afterward, we will take a funicular ride to the Highland Park to admire Baku from the observation deck.
Fire Temple and Burning Mountain
Then, an automobile journey begins! Our program includes:
- Bibi-Heybat Mosque - we will visit and admire it from the inside
- Ateshgah Fire Temple - a unique place connected with the ancient cult of fire and earth. You will hear about its history, religious and cultural significance for Azerbaijan. We will talk about the rituals and ceremonies held here, and what is being done to preserve the temple.
- Yanardag Burning Mountain. This is a true phenomenon: the fire has been burning for 4000 years. Why and how? We will tell you on the spot!
