What to expect
Gobustan Reserve - prehistoric Azerbaijan
In the morning, we will visit the ancient man. Here, on the site of his dwelling among the boulders, a reserve has been created and an interactive museum opened. I will tell you about the exhibits so you can imagine the life of a primitive Apsheron man. We will walk among the rocks, examine many preserved petroglyphs, and discuss the symbolism and meaning of this 'painting'.
Volcanic Field
Next, we will head to the natural wonder of the peninsula, mud volcanoes. Azerbaijan ranks first in the world in their number! You will learn about the healing power of the mixture of mud and oil gushing from the depths of the earth, and see a boiling mud lake. Besides, this place is a space for the imagination of photography enthusiasts.
Lake in all shades of pink
The third stop is the Dead Sea of Azerbaijan, Lake Masazir, one of the eight salty pink lakes in the world. Salt mining thrived here for a long time, and a plant was opened in 2010. Tour buses don't bring tourists here, but I know how to get straight to the gently pink water. Magical photo-memories will also remain here.
Unquenchable Flame
Yanardag is a genuine creation of nature, a natural eternal fire that has been burning for centuries! You will be impressed by the fiery slope of the mountain; hear legends about this place, and learn about the real origins of the fires.
Ateshgah Temple: Who are Zoroastrians?
During the final stop, we will return to the theme of fire. In the Ateshgah temple, adherents of Zoroastrianism 'locked' it into stone. I will tell you about the birth and spread of this ancient religion, amaze you with the traditions of fire worshippers, and explain how they lived, what they ate, and how they made a living.
