About this experience
I invite you to explore the Hungarian capital from a new perspective! You will see where famous artists lived and worked, relax by the shore of the Bottomless Lake, and wander through quiet old streets with incredible views. Admire mosaics, stained glass windows, and wrought-iron gates, explore magnificent mansions, and understand why this part of the city is beloved by locals.
What to expect
Villas, churches, galleries, and more
We will meet in the area of the famous Gellert Baths and take a walk along an unconventional route. You will see a tent-shaped pavilion, a cafe in a swimming pool, historic villas of Hungarian magnates, Art Nouveau buildings, and art galleries. Discover the lapis lazuli chapel, the non-Baroque Church of Saint Emerick, the house of architect Imre Makovecz, and the gymnasium of Saint Margaret. Enjoy the Bottomless Lake and the most beautiful cherry blossom in the city. And to experience Budapest from within, we will stop for a cup of coffee at a historic coffee house.
City secrets
The unusual route will be complemented by amazing, light-hearted, and entertaining stories about the city. I will tell you about the fake lumber merchant and the 'Case of the Blue Forget-me-not', the poor professor from the House of Scientists and the family of pranksters, the quiet genius and the talking head. I will show you the warmest spot in the country and reveal who the 'English Patient' was, where nuns brew coffee, who the 'Hungarian Nabob' is, and how Budapest is connected to the theory of six degrees of separation.
