About this experience
This tour is a collection of the most important places to explore in the eastern part of the city. From the famous Senso-ji temple to the electronic hub Akihabara, from picturesque Asakusa to the Sumo arena Ryogoku Sumo Hall, you will learn how such different quarters have formed in spirit, feel the atmosphere of each district, and gain a better understanding of the color of Tokyo.
What to Expect
World of Sumo
The tour starts at the Ryogoku Sumo Hall stadium. We will walk around it and, if we're lucky, see sumo wrestlers on a stroll. I will tell you the history of the most spectacular type of Japanese sport. We will discuss the pitfalls in the life of sumo wrestlers that are not usually talked about in public. You will also learn how much the wrestlers earn and what is currently happening with sumo in Japan.
The Electronic Heart of the City
Next, we will drive to the famous Akihabara district, which became famous after World War II as a major consumer electronics market and black market. I will tell you what sets today's Akihabara apart from the post-war one, and show you the most interesting and unique establishments.
Oldest Buddhist Temple in Tokyo
In the Asakusa area, we will visit the Senso-ji temple. You will appreciate the beauty of the city's most visited shrine and one of its most prominent landmarks. Just imagine: its history dates back over 1400 years!
Picturesque Asakusa District
While strolling here, you will understand how East Tokyo differs from the west. You will find out where it is easier and cheaper to live in this city, and where it is more fun to entertain and spend money. In addition, I will teach you how to easily and accurately determine the time and style of any monumental building by the facade. Our tour will end in Asakusa.
During the tour, I will not only talk about key events in Tokyo's history but also share interesting facts. You will understand how the Japanese differ from any other people in Asia. You will learn where the sacred relics of the imperial family are kept and hear many more remarkable details from the life of the Japanese capital.
