About this experience
The islands of Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis are the heart of Paris. Walking tours usually start from here. Most people immediately head to the Notre Dame Cathedral and overlook the inconspicuous alleys and secluded spots hidden from tourists. Let's explore these historic districts of Paris with rich history together. There is plenty to see here!
What to Expect
📍 We will start our walk on Île de la Cité – the oldest part of Paris. We will begin by discussing the buildings that stood on the island almost 2000 years ago.
📍 Then we will immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of medieval life and try to imagine ourselves in the shoes of those who built the Notre Dame Cathedral. Afterwards, we will talk in detail about the cathedral – a key point of our tour.
📍 We will stroll past the old royal palace, which was turned into a prison and then into the Palace of Justice. I will share stories associated with each period of this complex's existence.
📍 Enjoy the view of Paris from the oldest bridge in the city, Pont Neuf, and discuss the turbulent war and unrest times for France.
📍 In one of the inconspicuous alleys of the island, I will tell the story of Parisian Romeo and Juliets and show their house.
📍 On Île Saint-Louis, we will walk along the island's churches and mansions, discussing the fates of the local residents. The straight streets of this tiny district, filled with houses from 350 years ago, will not leave you indifferent!
📍 The tour will end near a shop where, if you wish, you can taste the best ice cream in Paris.
