About this experience
The Isle of Cite is known as the cradle of Paris. It is here that the capital of France was born! During the tour, you will see the main sights of the district and hear many mysterious stories that the legendary island is famous for. Visit the medieval royal residence of the Conciergerie and the gem of Gothic architecture, Sainte-Chapelle, built to house the Crown of Thorns of Jesus Christ.
What to Expect
Notre-Dame Cathedral and former royal residence
Our walk will begin at the royal square, which surrealist Andre Breton called the womb of Paris. You will visit the very place where in 1314 the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay, was burned alive, see the "Gossip Tower" where the torture chambers were located. Near the sacred Christian structure of the French capital, you will learn about the stories the stones on the Cathedral facade and on Cathedral Square tell, as well as what is carefully preserved in the spire of Notre Dame Cathedral and who lives on its roof! You will admire the magnificent stained glass windows of the gothic reliquary chapel of Sainte-Chapelle. You will also visit the Conciergerie – the former royal residence, part of which was converted into a prison. You will explore several interior rooms that have been preserved since medieval times: the Warriors' Hall, the Guard Room, and the pavilion with royal kitchens.
