What to expect
Where Paris begins
Starting from the Notre-Dame Cathedral with its classic Gothic facade, we will walk through the ancient streets of the Ile de la Cité, where you will discover the fascinating story of the city's birth and development. You will see the oldest bridge in Paris and the Conciergerie Palace, which played a huge role in shaping the city as an administrative and cultural capital. You will enjoy the peaceful Place Dauphine, visit the medieval Sainte-Chapelle with its delightful stained glass windows, and inhale the aroma of 17th-century pastries. I will help you notice how Roman and Gallic influences are combined in the architecture of Paris, and I will open the doors to atmospheric French courtyards and entire quarters hidden from the eyes of passers-by.
Feel the atmosphere of the city
On the Left Bank, you will be able to sense the combination of old and new Paris: you will walk among mansions from the 16th-17th centuries, where at different times lived Belmondo, Hemingway, Zola, and other art figures, examine the Sorbonne—one of the oldest universities in the world. Then you will learn about how the people of Paris lived and what they did in the medieval city. We will try to peek into the courtyard of a former monastery that was under the patronage of the Queen of France herself, Anne of Austria. Finally, we will conclude the walk at the Pantheon, where you can taste the famous ice cream.
