Exploring Mtskheta and Surroundings with a Chef
About this experience
Georgians know how to satisfy physical and spiritual hunger. Who if not us can learn from them? A one-day trip with me will appeal to everyone who wants to touch Georgian history and taste the extraordinary local cuisine. The proud monasteries of Mtskheta, mountain ranges, and valleys at the foot of the mountains will awaken your admiration and appetite, and I will be able to feed you deliciously and teach you how to make toasts correctly.
What to Expect
Three sanctuaries of Mtskheta
Mtskheta is a place of special significance for every Georgian, the first capital that is connected with a huge part of the country's history. I will show you the monastery Jvari located on the mountain, overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers, a view that the great Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov admired in his verses. Next, you will have the chance to visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. For a long time, it was the main cathedral of Georgia, and today, it is one of the most unique architectural monuments of antiquity. We will finish the tour by visiting another iconic monastery - Samtavro. I will tell you all about the features of the decoration of Georgian temples, the most revered saints, and religious traditions.
Picnic in the valley
After an in-depth immersion in Georgia's spiritual past, I will take you to a wonderful place - a picturesque meadow with a view of the mountains that is not easily accessible. Here, in the lap of nature, we will have a picnic with pork shashlik. While the meat is grilling, you can stroll around the surroundings or even go for a horse ride. I will treat you to wine, cheese, vegetables, and lemonades, share secrets of Georgian cuisine, and raise a few famous Georgian toasts. This time spent chatting at the foothills of the mountains in a quiet spot near Mtskheta will be a vivid memory of Georgia.
