About this experience
Rich history, stunning landscapes, ancient temples, and hospitable people - all of this is my native Kakheti region. Usually, in one tour, guests see only one of the districts. This is a circular route: you will visit the first capital of Kakheti Telavi, Signagi, and Tsinandali. The vineyards of the Alazani Valley, forested mountains, wine tastings, getting acquainted with traditions, and humor will allow you to enjoy warm and sunny Kakheti in any weather.
What to Expect
Attractions of the Telavi District
Listening to the guide's stories on the way, through the impassable mountains of the Gombori Pass, we will drive to the ruins of the ancient fortress of Ujarma, where you will learn about the significance of the citadel in the times of the Great Silk Road. The first stop is the major city and the first capital of the Kakheti kingdom - Telavi. If you wish, we will take time to admire the creation of nature - a 900-year-old plane tree, around which at least 10 people can stand. Next, we will visit the largest grape museum featuring almost 2000 varieties. This part of the journey also includes the Chavchavadze Museum-Estate: you will stroll through the picturesque park and learn about the legendary princely family from the local guide.
Attractions of the Signagi District
You will find yourself in the Bodbe monastery complex, where the deeply revered by Georgians saint enlightener Nino is buried. I will tell you about her destiny, the name of the monastery, and its significance. In Signagi, you will, of course, hear why it is called the "city of love", but you will also discover the toponymy of the city and its fate. You will visit the colorful souvenir market, walk along the ancient wall, and admire the Alazani Valley with vineyards and the snowy chain of the Caucasus Mountains.
Feel and Love the Kakheti Region
Believe me - on the tour, I don't stay silent for a minute! And I am happy to share stories with you about Georgian culture, traditions, customs, and way of life. You will feel the Kakhetian color and get acquainted with the main symbols of the region. At the Shumi winery, local winemakers will guide you through the wine cellar, talk about the history, development, and significance of winemaking in the Georgian mentality. We can stop for a light lunch, and for dinner, I invite you to my family home or my cousin's house: we will grill kebabs on a vineyard with red wine and pomegranate juice.
