About this experience
I invite you to visit the wonderful suburbs of Rome with ancient towns, picturesque lakes, breathtaking panoramas, and delicious regional cuisine. You will relax from the hustle and bustle of the capital and experience the true Italian 'dolce vita'.
What to Expect
Castel Gandolfo and Lake Albano
You will enjoy the beauty of the volcanic Lake Albano and visit the picturesque town of Castel Gandolfo with a population of only 9,000 people. I will tell you about the ancient town of Alba Longa that used to be here and explain why it is called the 'ancestor of Rome'. I will also show you the summer residence of the Roman popes, built in the 17th century on the site of the former Gandolfi family castle.
Strawberry Paradise in Nemi
The town of Nemi on the lake of the same name is even smaller than Castel Gandolfo, with only 2,000 inhabitants. Nemi is known for growing strawberries all year round and even hosting a festival dedicated to them. You will definitely taste berry delicacies and visit a winery where you can sample local wines and liqueurs. Nemi is famous not only for its delicious specialties but also for its rich history—I will tell you why it is called the 'mirror of Diana' and where the ships of Emperor Caligula, discovered at the bottom of the lake, were placed.
