About this experience
This tour is a way to get to know Tokyo 'not superficially' and to organize impressions of the dynamic capital. The valuable and stylish objects on our route and my stories about them will allow you not just to look at Tokyo from the inside, but to understand the scheme of its internal connections. What attracts the locals to these places? How important and popular are they? Let's go in search of answers.
What to Expect
The locations on my route are chosen so that you can see the city through the eyes of a Tokyoite: understand the importance, aesthetics, and everyday significance of each object.
- Zojoji Buddhist Temple - the spiritual ‘fortress’ of the founder of the capital and the historical treasure trove of Japan.
- Garden of Unborn Children: we will explore replicated details from the famous shrine in Kyoto with statues of Jizo.
- Stone Success Staircase, which blends perfectly into the Tokyo landscape and serves as a spot for resetting in the routine of weekdays for local residents and employees of nearby office buildings.
- Tokyo Tower - a symbol of the city's urban character's elevation. A unique backdrop for photos and filming.
- Hibiya Avenue - a simultaneous household and entertainment attribute of the city's infrastructure. A leisurely walk will pass by a number of significant urban objects.
During the walk, I'll help you connect what you see with other places in Tokyo so that your visual flashbacks turn into conscious impressions of Japan. Additionally:
- you'll emphasize the importance of the religious geography in the capital, understand some religious attributes, and social rules reflecting Tokyo's character
- you’ll ‘reassess’ Japanese values, learn about demographic policy, and the latest city transformation plans
- you'll uncover the reasons for the ancient relocation of the capital from Kyoto to Tokyo
- you'll understand why the oldest mentions name the Tokyo region as nothing but the Great Multitude of Islands’ Aquatorium
Who is this tour for
An effortless route, my knowledge, and observations will especially appeal to those who love geography and historical symmetry of events. As well as to those who enjoy the feeling of space freedom within noisy cities.
