About this experience
I want to introduce you to the diverse culture, rich history, and incredible nature of Vancouver. We will admire the Pacific Ocean and mountain landscapes from park viewpoints, discuss the traditions of Canadian indigenous peoples, trace Vancouver's path from a sawmill to a modern city, see floating houses, walk through Gastown, and explore all facets of this stunning city!
What to Expect
Stanley Park Stroll
You will visit the second largest park in North America, which offers an incredible view of Vancouver. We will see the oldest tree in the city and the Lions Gate Bridge, try to spot a raccoon or squirrel, and then stop at the Indigenous totem poles. Here, I will tell you about the meanings of the drawings on the poles and how they are connected to the history, rituals, and customs of Canadian tribes.
Vibrant Gastown
Next, we will drive along English Bay, enjoy views of the ocean and mountains, explore the local Chinatown, and end up in Gastown – the oldest and most colorful part of Vancouver with a fascinating history. Here you will see unique steam clocks that sound like Big Ben, pass by numerous restaurants and shops, and, of course, visit Indigenous souvenir shops with unique handicrafts made of leather, wool, and other materials.
Iconic Sites and City History
We will visit Granville Island – a favorite spot of Vancouver residents where you can meet street artists and musicians, see floating homes, and buy various local seafood. We will explore the cozy Queen Elizabeth Park with a stunning view of the city and Canada Place, the departure point for Alaska cruises. Along the way, I will tell you all the interesting facts about Vancouver: how the city was founded and named, what animals you can encounter in the local mountains, how the lives of urban residents and Native Americans are organized, and much more!
