What to Expect
Following the Food Lovers of the 18th-19th Centuries
We will start our stroll in the heart of Paris – in the Les Halles district. This is where the legendary market was located, which Émile Zola immortalized in his novel 'The Belly of Paris.' The market has long been moved outside the city limits, but there are still shops, cafes, and restaurants around. Some of them can boast of 300-year-old traditions and distinguished guests. We can also stop by here. And also visit the city's oldest pastry shop, where Queen Elizabeth II once visited. By the way, it was here that the rum baba pastry was invented. Try it, and your life will never be the same again!
From Markets to Restaurants
Next, we will admire the garden of Palais Royal, where I will tell you about the emergence of restaurants in Paris. After all, it was in this district that restaurant life originated after the revolution of 1789. Then we will cross to the Left Bank in the Saint Germain area, which has prepared many other gastronomic treasures for you. We will visit the food market, which in the Middle Ages belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Germain and was famous throughout France. We will also stop by some popular culinary shops in Saint-Germain. Here we will find traditional snacks and desserts, as well as delicacies from famous chefs.
