About this experience
I will not only show you the face of Paris with its luxurious palaces and royal gardens, but also teach you how to enjoy food like a true French! We will wander through the ancient streets of the Latin Quarter, peek inside a Norman Gothic church near Notre Dame, learn the 'art of living' on Pont-Neuf with wine and cheese, and have lunch at a local French restaurant.
What to Expect
Paris from Postcards and a Picnic with Wine and Cheese
We will leisurely stroll through the heart of Paris to see the sights you've only seen on postcards. Starting at the Louvre, we will head towards the Palais Royal garden while sharing curious stories about the king's mistresses and other intriguing moments from Paris' biography. Wandering through the narrow streets of the old Latin Quarter, we'll recall the era of D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers. We'll visit the church of Saint-Séverin, where its whimsical chimeras will reveal the soul of French Gothic architecture to you. On the Old Bridge of King Henry IV, built 'for sensual picnics,' we will have our own picnic - you'll taste select cheeses with a glass of ruby Bordeaux and enjoy the leisurely waters of the Seine just like the French.
French-Style Lunch and a Local Market
I'm sure the picnic will only whet your appetite, so after a pleasant al fresco experience on Pont-Neuf, we'll head to a small restaurant for a proper meal. The menu offers 3 courses. For appetizers, you can choose between mussels in white wine, oysters, or frog legs. The main course will be either beef bourguignon or Normandy-style chicken fricassee. For dessert, you'll indulge in sweet crêpes, tarte Tatin, macarons, or if you prefer, replace it with a fragrant assortment of cheeses. During lunch, I will share facts about the relationship between the French and food, their preferences, and interesting traditions.
With a head full of impressions and a stomach full of delicious food, we will conclude our journey at a local market. Here, stalls overflow with dozens of varieties of cheese, seafood, and sweets - if you wish, I can help you assemble a selection of local delicacies so you can end the day with a tasty evening treat.
