About this experience
I invite travelers to immerse themselves in the culture and art of contemporary Istanbul, to reflect and discuss on this topic together. The main part of my narrative will focus on the cultural process, contemporary art of the Middle East and Turkey, gallery and auction business.
Modern Istanbul
Every Turk wanders between tradition and modernity a thousand times a day. Between a fez and a shawl, a mosque and a disco, the European Union and the animosity towards it. Just as Istanbul is divided by the Bosphorus into two continents, so is the soul of every Turk divided by an invisible line. In the morning, girls drink espresso with their boyfriends, and after lunch, covering their heads with a shawl, they go to their grandmother for Turkish coffee. Living on the edge has its advantages. Turks are creative, quickly learn languages, instantly connect with people from any geographical latitude. © Witold Sabłowski.
Perhaps it is the presence in the minds and hearts of Turks of a constant sense of division and endless search for their place in the world that has been a powerful impetus for the development of contemporary art in Turkey.
