What to Expect
Venice's main waterway
As you sail through the waters of the famous Grand Canal, you will see the most beautiful palaces of the rich and influential inhabitants of medieval Venice and realize why it's rightfully called one of the most beautiful 'streets' in the world. Against the backdrop of gondolas and vaporettos gliding by, you will uncover the secrets of Venice's past and the legends of its glorious residents. You will also discover the birthplaces of Casanova, the burial site of the last Doge of Venice, and filming locations of many famous movies.
Treasures of the Grand Canal
I will tell you about the oldest palace on the Grand Canal and the most elegant one. By one of the key architectural monuments - Doge's Palace - you will hear about the main political place of the republic and the residence of its rulers. You will learn the history of the naming and construction of Bridge of Sighs, the only enclosed bridge in the city, and one of the oldest built across the Grand Canal - Rialto Bridge. Additionally, we will discuss the historical significance of the most important church for all Venetians - Basilica of St. Mary of Health.
After the tour, I will be happy to answer all your questions about the city and recommend restaurants and bakeries loved by locals.
