About this experience
On the banks of the Ili River, along which the Silk Road caravans passed, you will visit a complex built for the movie 'Nomad'. You will get acquainted with the structure of an ancient eastern city and take colorful photos. And then you will visit the gorge, where you will touch real antiquity: study rock paintings, ancient Turkic runic inscriptions and images of the Buddha with his Bodhisattvas.
What to expect
City of Nomads
When it comes to decorations, of course, it is difficult to talk about historical spirit and authenticity. But such structures are valuable as a beautiful illustration of eras and as real cinema landmarks. You will walk the streets where the events of the historical epic 'Nomad' unfolded. You will see fortress walls and towers, residential houses and mosques with minarets, dungeons, a siege engine, a well, and a gallows. And on the upper platform, you will admire the natural landscapes.
Tamgaly-Tas Gorge
In the second part of the program, we will take you to the canyon of the Ili River, where not far from the Kapchagay HPP there is a wonderful sunny valley with a picturesque natural 'climbing wall'. Athletes from all over Kazakhstan actively use it for training and competitions. And on the edge of this rock, an unknown artist created a wonderful monument to history and culture - an 'open-air Buddhist temple' with rock images.
- You will see images of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, learn about petroglyphs from the late Bronze and Iron Ages, discovered at the end of the 19th century.
- You will hear several hypotheses and legends about their origin.
- You will examine a stone with ancient Turkic runic inscriptions from the 8th-9th centuries.
- And in the end, you will be able to climb to the upper observation platform to enjoy another panoramic view from a height.
