About this experience
I invite you to a one-day tour of the key places of the Almaty region in a comfortable off-road vehicle. You will visit the Altyn-Emel National Park, walk on the bottom of the dried-up Tethys Ocean, discover figures of alien creatures in petrified lava, and see the oldest willow tree, next to which legend has it Genghis Khan himself rested.
What to expect:
On the tour, you will visit:
- Aktau Chalk Mountains - the bottom of the dried-up ancient Tethys Ocean, where paleontologists still find remains of animals from the dinosaur era. The unique color and alien landscapes attract photographers and travelers from all over the world.
- Katutau Volcanic Mountains represent the result of ancient lava eruptions and the vigorous volcanic activity of this region. The petrified lava has amazing shapes resembling frozen animals or alien creatures.
- The oldest willow tree, located in the Kosbastau tract. Its height is over 20 meters, and the trunk's girth is 15. According to legend, Genghis Khan rested next to it with his army. The tree is considered sacred, and it must not be harmed.
Detailed itinerary:
07:00-11:00 - Transfer by off-road vehicle from Almaty to Baschi village.
11:00-13:00 - Pass arrangement, trip to Aktau mountains.
13:00-14:00 - Lunch on the road.
14:00-16:00 - Katutau mountains.
16:00-17:00 - 700-year-old willow tree.
17:00-18:00 - Transfer to Baschi village, snack on the road.
18:00-22:00 - Return to Almaty.
22:00-23:00 - Arrival in Almaty.
Organizational details:
- After making a deposit on the website, the remaining cost of the tour must be paid at least 48 hours before the trip begins by transferring to a Russian card (you will receive the details after booking).
- The trip does not involve extensive storytelling from the driver-guide. The main goal is to enjoy the natural locations, take photos, and videos.
- Bring water and food for the road
- Entrance tickets (eco-taxes) are paid separately - 1400 tenge per person. Only cash is accepted.
- The tour will be conducted by me or another driver-guide from our team.
