What picture do you imagine when you think of Kazakhstan? Great steppes with golden strands stretching to the horizon? Our lands are truly rich with such beauty. But we also have alpine lakes, waterfalls, mountains covered in dense forest. During the trip, you will see everything with your own eyes! And this is only part of the program. The other component is historical and no less exciting: we will travel back to the times of myths and legends of ancient nomads.
What to expect
History and legends of the Saka culture
Saka tribes were scattered in the territory of Kazakhstan in the 7th-4th centuries BC and had a huge impact on the historical, ethnic, and cultural development of the region in antiquity. During the excursion, you will touch those distant and mysterious times to better understand the past of the Great Steppes.
You will see the Saki burial mounds (4th century BC) - one of the largest archaeological sites of the Scythian-Saka period and one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century. You will get acquainted with the history of the famous find - the Golden Man. The guide will tell you how the burial mounds of the Saks were formed over many centuries, what the symbolism of Saka patterns means, and which elements from the clothing of Altyn Adam (Golden Man) formed the basis of the coat of arms of Kazakhstan. On the territory of the museum-preserve, you will also see a sculpture of it with a snow leopard frozen beside it.
Natural treasures in the vicinity of Almaty
Also, a walk is planned in the Issyk and Turgen gorges. You will ascend to the magnificent Bear Waterfall, hear a legend about it, and breathe in the intoxicating mountain air. A special part of the journey is devoted to Lake Issyk. You will see for yourself why it is called one of the main ornaments of the region! You will learn about the peculiarities of the local flora and fauna. Find out how the character of the lake is manifested and what its past was like.
At the end of the excursion, we will organize a quiz with a surprise for our curious listeners.
Travel plan
- Meeting at the hotel and journey along the Kuldja tract
- Visit to the museum-preserve
- Journey to the lake through the Issyk gorge
- Walk along the shoreline of Lake Issyk (a beautiful place for photo shoots)
- Excursion to the Bear Waterfall, walk up the Turgen gorge (the route is of moderate difficulty)
- Return to the hotel
Organizational details
- Transport, full guide support, and a bottle of water (0.5 l per person) are included in the program cost
- Additional costs: entrance ticket to the museum, fishing rod rental, lunch at the trout farm upon request (~1000 rubles/person)
- Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and also bring a headgear and sunglasses - even in the mountains, the sun is active in winter
- The remaining part of the excursion cost is to be paid on the day of the event only in tenge. The tenge amount is fixed at the current rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the day of order confirmation, we will inform you in the correspondence.
