About this experience
In 2014, a historic event took place - Anne Hidalgo became the mayor of Paris. In the most visited city in the world, the era of women officially began, and this is the perfect moment to flip through history pages imbued with the subtle aroma of perfume and intrigue. You will see that the famous doctrine cherchez la femme is applicable to most plots of French history: it is no coincidence that the country's symbol is Marianne, the anthem is La Marseillaise, and the national heroine is Joan of Arc.
What to Expect
Main Women of Paris
Despite the Salic law of the Franks, which passed the throne only through the male line, women played key roles in politics, economy, and art in France. I will tell stories of amazing women - strong, tender, brave, and enterprising, thanks to whom the history of France reads like a romance novel. Often these women are foreigners to whom France gave what they could not achieve in their homeland - the opportunity to live, love, and work freely. We will jump from the Renaissance to the post-war period, recall scandalous love triangles, observe through the centuries the ladies whose charisma would be enough to govern several states, admire their nobility, and be horrified by their cunning. And along the way - enjoy the Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, Saint-Germain Boulevard, Bonaparte Street, the Bridge of Arts, and the streets of the Left Bank of Paris.
Little Gastronomic Joys
And to better remember the stories of legendary women, we will 'anchor' them with a cup of coffee on the terrace of the Latin Quarter, with wine from a market vendor, as well as with pink desserts and hot chocolate at an emblematic French pastry shop.
Organizational Details
- We will thoroughly explore the Left Bank, so despite the fact that the walk is about and for women, I do not advise you to wear heels.
- Additional expenses: coffee - 2.50-3 euros, a glass of wine - 5-7 euros, desserts - 4.90-7 euros.
