About this experience
A journey through the picturesque suburbs of Budapest will be remembered by the magnificent palace complex in Geddele, the unusual temple in Fot, and the wonderful historical center in Vatc. I will help you immerse yourself in the past and present of these unique places, tell you about the famous people associated with them, and do everything to show you Hungary from a new perspective!
What to Expect
Fot and the Church of the Immaculate Conception
Fot will captivate you with its cozy streets and leisurely atmosphere. I will show you its main attraction - the Catholic church of the Immaculate Conception, built in the romantic style by Miklos Ybl. I will also tell you about the Karolyi family, on whose orders it was erected. Upon request, you can visit the church's crypt and admire the black marble altar, adorned with a sculpture of sitting Christ. There are only 10 such images in the world.
Geddele and the 18th-century palace complex
In Geddele, you will find one of the most famous masterpieces of Hungarian baroque - the palace of Count Grassalkovich. I will reveal under what circumstances the august couple turned Geddele into their summer residence and renamed it the Royal Palace. You will appreciate the interiors of the imperial chambers, restored after a long restoration, take a walk in the Elizabethan Park, and admire the statue of Maria Theresa. Optionally, visit a local confectionery with delicious desserts and fragrant coffee.
Vatc: a walk through the historical center
You will see the city's 'postcards': the Cathedral, the Triumphal Arch, the Greek Church, the Episcopal Palace, and the Church of St. Anne. The main square will impress you with the Dominican church, the town hall, and the Andras Chazar Institute - the first Hungarian school for the deaf. In addition, we will stroll along the Danube embankment and visit the city's most interesting museum Memento Mori, where ancient coffins and mummies are presented.
