What to Expect
Main attractions and 'biography' of Vienna
The journey from Budapest to Vienna will be filled with stories about the chronicles of Hungary and Austria: about the complex centuries-old relationships between the two states and the significant events that separated and connected the two countries. Upon arrival in Vienna, you will take a city tour - starting at the Museum Square of Maria Theresa, we will cover key points by bus and on foot:
- Ringstrasse Street - a boulevard built on the site of the fort walls. Travelers traditionally start their acquaintance with Vienna from this place. Driving along the Ring, you will see the iconic buildings of the capital: the gleaming white Parliament, elegant Town Hall, Vienna Opera House, and magnificent university.
- Belvedere - a palace-park complex known as the Viennese Versailles. Examining the baroque facade, you will learn about the significance and owners of Belvedere, and then take a leisurely walk through the picturesque park with flowers and sculptures.
- Hofburg - the palace ensemble, the former winter residence of the Habsburgs. By the ancient walls of the Hofburg, we will talk about this dynasty that ruled for 600 years and the creation of the complex.
During the walking part of the tour, you will also stroll through the beautiful central streets Graben and Karntnerstrasse: see the magnificent St. Stephen's Cathedral with its colorful tiled roof, the grand Plague Column, and the Hotel Sacher, where the famous cake was created. After the tour, you will have free time to relax in one of the legendary Viennese coffee houses, explore the shops, or simply take a leisurely walk on your own.
