What to expect
Budapest from a bird's-eye view
In the first part of the excursion, we will head to the most beautiful and breathtaking viewing platform of Budapest - Gellert Hill, from which you will truly see Budapest "at a glance"! You will discover Buda, Pest, and Obuda. I will tell you the history of the emergence and unification of these three cities. You will see the bridges that connect them, hear the legends of Gellert Hill, and admire the view of the Danube and the Buda Hills. After that, we will descend to another viewpoint, where the Philosophical Garden is located. We will ride along the Danube promenade on the Buda side with Renaissance buildings from the 19th century and climb up to Castle Hill - the place where Buda was founded. You will stroll through the medieval streets of the castle town and admire the beauty of the Royal Palace, King Matthias Church, and the Fisherman's Bastion. You will also climb to a viewing platform, which offers a fantastic panorama of Pest with the Parliament and St. Stephen's Basilica.
Churches of three religions
After enjoying the beauties of Buda and Pest, we will head to the third part of Budapest - Obuda, which means "old Buda". You will learn how the Celts founded Obuda even before our era, and the Romans built their city Aquincum there. Our path will lead us along the first Roman road via Romana, past ancient Turkish baths. I will tell you about the Turkish legacy that survived after a 150-year yoke and famous Hungarian thermal baths. Then we will drive over the Danube via the Margit French Bridge to Pest, see the business part of the city and architectural monuments of the 19th century: the Parliament, St. Stephen's Basilica, and palaces on Freedom Square. You will visit the Square of Three Confessions and see the largest evangelical church in Hungary and the largest synagogue in Europe.
Main Andrássy Avenue
The final part of the excursion will be the main artery of the Hungarian capital - Andrassy Avenue. I will tell you about its most beautiful buildings, the first metro on the European continent, famous Hungarian inventors, and monuments to famous personalities on Heroes' Square, crowning the avenue. Optionally, you can get off at this square, take beautiful photos, and walk in the city park, where several interesting objects of magnificent Hungarian architecture are located: the Museum of Fine Arts, the Exhibition Center, Vajdahunyad Castle, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, and the zoo. This is where we will immerse ourselves in the millennia-old history of Budapest and Hungary. And to relax and absorb the new information, after the end of the excursion, you can sit by the pond in the park in summer or ice skate on the largest open-air rink in Europe in winter. Also, if you wish, I can take you to one of the thermal baths or a restaurant. You will feel like honored guests of the European capital and take with you the most pleasant impression of it.
