About this experience
On the raft, you will conquer the beautiful Rioni River, enjoying the surrounding landscapes with cliffs and waterfalls, while I ensure safety and comfort. Aside from the thrilling adventure, before the rafting experience, you will visit the mountain lake Shaori, try local delicacies, and touch history at the Gelati Monastery. I promise - this day will bring you new knowledge and a whirlwind of emotions and will definitely embellish your journey through hospitable Georgia!
What to Expect
Ancient monastery, mountain lake, and local flavors
Before the main adventure, you will have an informative part of the tour. From Kutaisi, we will head to the Gelati Monastery, where by the medieval walls you will learn about the deeds of King David IV the Builder and the architecture of the ancient sanctuary. Optionally, Gelati can be replaced with the Nikortsminda church with rich stone carvings. Next, you will admire the beauty of the artificial mountain lake Shaori and the pass dividing the regions of Imereti and Racha.
Rafting on the River amid the beauties of western Georgia
The main goal of this journey is rafting on the Rioni River, which carries waters through a picturesque valley under Mount Kvamli. Overcoming its rapids, you will sail in the footsteps of the Argonauts - they were here, according to ancient sources. Every turn will be accompanied by unforgettable views of rocky cliffs and lush greenery. Moreover, along the way, you will encounter many large and small waterfalls. Throughout the rafting, an experienced guide will be with you: you will receive all instructions and feel completely safe.
🍲 After the rafting, we will have a picnic with salad, Georgian lavash, cheese, traditional Rachan lobiani, and fruits.

What is Included and What is Not:
- Included: transportation expenses, rafting equipment, wetsuit in cold weather
- Not included: Picnic surcharge - 40 Lari per person
- The tour can also be conducted for a larger group of travelers (up to 10 people): surcharge for each additional participant - €25
How the Tour Goes
- I will pick you up from the hotel in the morning and drop you off after the tour
- From Kutaisi to the starting point is 80 km. Route length - 26 km; rafting duration - 2 hours.
- The tour will be conducted by me or another guide-instructor from my team
- The tour is available from March 1 to October 30
