Explore Absheron - the land of surreal landscapes and ancient treasures! Decode petroglyphs in the Gobustan Reserve, visit mud volcanoes, admire the ever-burning fires on Yanardag Mountain. Also, you will see Bibi-Heybat Mosque and stroll through the winding streets of Old Baku.
What to expect
Gobustan and mud volcanoes
You will visit the Gobustan Reserve - one of the world's most famous open-air historical and archaeological parks. You will see primitive dwellings - caves and settlements - and decipher the meaning of mysterious petroglyphs. You will also see rock paintings depicting the culture, economy, and customs of the people who lived on this land. Then we will head to the mud volcanoes, admire Martian landscapes, and take postcard-perfect photos.
Mosque and "Burning Mountain"
We will visit the Shiite Bibi-Heybat Mosque on the shore of the Caspian Sea, stop at the world's first oil well, and climb the "Burning Mountain" Yanardag. You will see the natural eternal flame on its slopes and learn what Marco Polo wrote about this phenomenon. Additionally, if desired, we can stop by a fish restaurant and taste fresh catch from the Caspian Sea.
Old City of Icheri Sheher
You will appreciate the main attractions of Old Baku: Maiden Tower, Palace of the Shirvanshahs, Fortress Gates, and the ruins of St. Bartholomew's Chapel. You will visit the medieval market square, see Eastern baths and ancient caravanserais. You will walk past the filming locations of famous movies - "The Diamond Arm," "Tehran-43," and "The Amphibian Man" - visit the art workshop of Ali Shamsi, and admire the monument to Azerbaijani poet Aliaga Vahid.
