About this experience
One of the most popular places in Athens is the colorful historical and commercial triangle formed by Monastiraki, Omonia, and Syntagma squares. Atmospheric neighborhoods, ancient ruins, the central market, and antique shops attract guests from all over the world. On a walk through this area, I will show you the most interesting sights and immerse you in different eras of Athens' long history.
What to Expect
The famous Athenian triangle is full of surprises. This area has been a center of trade since ancient times. Here, you can find echoes of mythology and religion everywhere - in the architecture, street names, gastronomy, customs, and traditions of the locals.
You will see:
- Monastiraki - a square located under the shadow of the Acropolis. You will see antique shops, historical buildings, taverns, churches, and graffiti
- Central Market - one of the largest in Greece. You will discover the history of Greek gastronomy. Here, your eyes will be amazed by the abundance of everything - cheeses, olives, spices, dried fruits. You can also try Greek coffee prepared on sand and served with a piece of loukoum
- Athens City Hall and the National Bank of Greece Center, where tombs and ruins of the ancient city wall and road are preserved. Here you will also find monuments to the drachma and Pericles
