About this experience
Athens is a treasure trove of ancient temples with stunning icons, frescoes, and mosaics. We will stroll through the city center and visit the most important ones. I will tell you when and by whom they were built, what events are associated with them, and what makes them unique. I will help you understand the structure of ancient churches and decipher the ideas embedded in them.
What to Expect
Orthodox Pilgrimage in the Center of Athens
You will descend into the underground halls of the 11th-century Byzantine church of the Holy Trinity and learn what was there before it. In the ancient Plaka district, you will see the church of Saint Nicholas Ragava with its stunning stone wall construction. And at the famous Monastiraki Square, you will find the ancient church of Pantanassa.
