Kazakhs have traditionally consumed camel and mare's milk, known as shubat and kumys. Our country has not been famous for its winemaking history and traditions. But everything flows and changes. On this tour, you will get acquainted with the project of local entrepreneurs who have managed to create world-class wines. Then, you will visit a restaurant where in tastes, aromas, and details of the ethnic interior, we will seek the keys to the era of ancient nomads.
What to Expect
Elite Wines of Kazakhstan
In the first part of the program, we will visit a cozy specialized shop, where charismatic consultants - succinctly and tastefully - will talk about wine production and the secrets of exquisite Kazakh wine. You will find out who and how revived an abandoned vineyard in the Almaty region from Soviet times. Appreciate the bold idea of the project creators, who realized that a region historically not known for winemaking could only be glorified by the best examples, and created a wine that is now among the top 2-3% best products in the world market. You will be offered to taste the drink, namely 5 varieties of wine.
Tastings in a Restaurant and Getting Acquainted with Nomadic Way of Life
Next, we will head to an atmospheric restaurant, where not only the cuisine but also the ethnic interior of the establishment immerses you in the world of nomadic civilization. You will admire a stylized yurt, try on traditional clothing, and have a small photo session. You will be treated with Kazakh tea, unleavened bread, and cream with honey. You will also taste Kazakh kuyrdak (a meat dish made from liver and lungs) and baursaks - a traditional pastry and an essential attribute of the festive table.
All this time, I will introduce you to the gastronomic culture and way of life of nomads. After the tastings, you can continue the evening by staying for dinner. From 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, musicians in colorful costumes play national instruments such as zhetygen, dombra, and kobyz.
