About this experience
During our walk through picturesque places, you will learn about the history of Annecy, starting from Roman times and ending with the present day. I will tell you how the small Roman town of Butae turned into the magical capital of Upper Savoy.
Annecy is the Alpine Venice, truly 'authentic' as we like to say nowadays, preserving its true image from ancient times, a medieval city that keeps the memory of wonderful historical events.
What to expect
- We will meet on the shores of Lake Annecy, immerse ourselves in the shade of the Gardens of Europe, and admire the panorama, reminiscent of the decorations of the ballet 'Swan Lake'.
- You will make a wish on the Lover's Bridge and discover what the favorite place for walks of the people of Annecy - the Mars Field - is like today.
- We will stroll through the cool arcades of old Annecy to see the Cathedral of Notre-Dame and the ancient Town Hall. You will be welcomed by the most romantic corner of this magical city, where you will hear a 'frivolous' love story.
- Afterwards, the Saint-Pierre Cathedral awaits you, a meeting under the Clock Tower in the Old Town, and the castle of the Counts of Geneva-Nemours.
- After walking through the old passageways and bridges over the Thiou River, we will see Annecy's 'calling card' - the Old Prison or the Palace on the Island. You will hear legends about the jealous queen, the loyal legionnaire, the envious Richelieu, and others.
