I will take you through the most interesting streets, tell city legends, show houses where famous people lived, and share practical tips: where to buy gifts, take the best photos, and enjoy the evening.
What to expect
Nice through the centuries
The Old Town is not just the heart of Nice, it is a place of history. You can wander here for hours, but it's easy to get lost in the maze and miss the most interesting things. We will see the flowery Cours Saleya Square and the monumental buildings on Palace Square, but the most interesting part lies deep in the winding alleys. I will tell you about different periods of the city's history, starting from the Greeks to the establishment of French dominion. You will understand why Nice became a place that the Turks and Spaniards wanted to conquer so badly, and how the French managed to put an end to centuries of incursions.
Catholic Brotherhood chapels and tasting
You will learn about the 'Brotherhood of Penitents' and visit churches and chapels associated with its history. We will recall 'The Da Vinci Code' movie. I will talk about styles in art and architecture using the buildings we encounter on the way, show houses where famous people lived. And right on the tour, you can try local snacks and gelato from local Italians.
From fountain to fountain
We will slightly expand the boundaries of the Old Town and include Massena Square and Garibaldi Square in the tour. Modern history has also prepared interesting fragments for you: the robbery of the century, discord caused by feminists, and the 'circumcision' of male dignity on statues. Along the way, I will share practical recommendations: where to buy tasty gifts and souvenirs, the best spots for panoramic photos, where to have a pleasant dinner, taste seafood, and enjoy wine.
