About this experience
Love for the city, like love in general, is a complex, multifaceted feeling. I will show you Nice as locals love it and visitors adore it. You will see that there is a sense of affluence here - not of the public, who have long loved the French Riviera, but of the wealth of history and culture. I will share with you the fate of Nice and the best city 'sketches' on the theme of love: for the sea, the sun, fun, delicious food, and even religion.
What to Expect
English Touch and Love for the Sea
We will start our acquaintance with Nice with a walk along the English Promenade - the promenade with a magnificent sea panorama. I will tell you how the city acquired such a well-groomed waterfront area thanks to the English, and briefly - about all the city beaches. You will understand what the sea means to Nice, how locals like to spend time by the water, and take the first dive into the city's history and modern life.
Naive French Joys and Love for Entertainment
Next, we will head to Albert I Park, the former imperial park, where you will see an elegant carousel - one of the city's symbols. This is the perfect place to talk about Nice's entertainment and what joy means for the French: simple, unpretentious, almost childish. You will admire the magnificent city theater, learn facts about the country's musical culture, and experience the city like a Nice local.
Gastronomic Connections of Nice and Love for Food
Through Massena Square, where we will talk about the attitude towards military affairs in France, you will reach the market. I will advise you on what to try in Nice, and tell you which dishes have roots in Italian cuisine and which ones in French. Of course, you will see a variety of cheeses, abundance of fresh oysters, smell the aroma of bouillabaisse, and learn which wines are particularly valued here (hint: from the perspective of a Nice resident, there are French wines and all the rest).
Italian Influence and Love for God
After the gastronomic paradise, you will head straight to the Vatican's domain - the St. Reparate Cathedral. Here we will remember where the branches of Christianity diverged, talk about the sanctuaries around Nice, and why Saint Peter is an important religious figure for the city. Right there, in Rossetti Square, you will have the opportunity to try the best gelato in Nice with unusual flavors like tomato or tobacco.
The tour will end with a climb to the top of Castle Hill, offering a stunning view of the Bay of Angels and the magnificent promenade.
