What to expect
Mountain Monastery
We will depart from the city early in the morning and head to the St. Michael Monastery in the Piedmont region - it is located high in the mountains and offers a magnificent view of Turin. It has an incredible history that includes cave dwellers, Romans, Celts, monks, saints, wars, miracles, and legends - I will gladly tell you all about it.
Exilles Village and Sestriere Resort
Then we will visit the medieval village of Exilles, which has seen a lot over the centuries - it houses a military fort from Napoleon's time that operated even during WWII. After strolling around and learning the history of these places, we will head to the famous Italian resort town of Sestriere - just a few kilometers from the French border. Many stages of the 2006 Olympics were held here.
French Alps - Briancon
Since France is nearby, it would be a shame not to visit Briancon - a fortress city in the French Alps and also the highest city in Europe. It is a heroic city - in 1815, it resisted the enemies of Napoleon for three months. The existing city fortifications are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
