About this experience
Today's Bratislava is a modern European capital, but the historical center still holds the memory of Pressburg - the ancient city on the Danube, once the capital of the Hungarian Kingdom. Fragments of the Middle Ages are hidden in the secret corners of the Old Town and on the busiest streets - you just need to notice them! With my help, the past of Bratislava will come to life before your eyes and reveal its secrets.
What to Expect
Walk through cozy medieval streets and their whimsical stories
In the course of the tour, you will visit the iconic places of medieval Pressburg - where once was the city's most famous cemetery, the oldest street in the city, the scariest street where the city executioner lived, and even the place where the city dump used to be. During the walk, I will tell you where in the streets of Bratislava you can find gravestones, who was the most famous ghost of Pressburg (evidence of its existence can still be found in the Cathedral of St. Martin!..), what story is associated with the Gothic tower of the Clarissine church, and what happened to the shoemaker who quarreled with the Pressburg witches.
Dark stories accompanied by coffee
In the oldest part of Bratislava, we will take a coffee break, and then we will roam through medieval squares populated by ghosts and memories. You will see the chapel where dead monks gather at Christmas, learn which type of wine the local witches appreciated, through which gates the Plague entered the city, whose ghost lives in the well at Primate Square, and many other urban plots.
Who is this tour for
Some medieval legends are quite dark and not suitable for young children, so this tour is recommended for participants aged 14 and older.
