What to expect
The Grandeur of Bratislava Castle
We will visit the snow-white castle perched on one of the foothills of the Little Carpathians, visible from any point in the city. For many years, Bratislava Castle served as a coronation site for Austrian and Hungarian kings, including the legendary Maria Theresa of the Habsburg dynasty. We will explore the castle grounds and the ruins of the 9th-century basilica, visit the monument of Saint Elisabeth, and learn about her tragic story. I will tell you about the architectural features of Bratislava Castle, blending classic Baroque, Sigismund's Gothic, chivalric age, and Renaissance styles. From the palace square, you will enjoy a marvelous view of the entire Bratislava sprawling below like the palm of your hand!
Stroll Through the Old Town
The alleys of the Old Town will greet you with magnificent palaces, ancient temples, local legends, and amazing stories. You will see the palace of Archbishop Jozef Bótanic with mysterious tapestries and the brewery of Spéth with a magnificent art gallery. Along the way, we will also explore the Jesuit Order church, the Capuchin monastery church reminiscent of Schiller's novels, and, of course, the legendary Saint Martin's Cathedral, which for several centuries was the center of Catholicism for most of Europe.
Presidential Palace: From Balls to Pioneers
You will discover the complex history of the Bratislava Presidential Palace, which transformed from the pompous residence of Count Grassalkovich to the House of Pioneers during the communist regime. The palace will undoubtedly amaze you not only with its intriguing fate but also with its solemn facade and unusual rococo architectural style.
