About this experience
On the tour, you will see more than just a resort town. The ancient Alanya will reveal itself to you in all its glory! You will explore the medieval fortress, stroll through cozy streets, and discover the most interesting pages of history. We will tell you about the life of the Turkish people and show you the city through the eyes of the locals who love it so much!
What to Expect
- The first point on the route is Alanya Fortress, the city's symbol. We will reach its walls by cable car. Along the way, I will share interesting stories about the pirates who operated here for many centuries. Inside the citadel, you will walk on ancient walls, enjoy a sea view, and discover various museums and monuments.
- Behind the fortress walls lies the historical residential area. Locals open restaurants, guesthouses, art galleries, and cozy cafes here. We will visit a Seljuk mosque and explore the local market.
- Need a break from the heat? Let's head to Damlatas Cave. Inside the grotto, you will see various stalactites, stalagmites, and formations, and enjoy the coolness and amazing landscapes.
- If you are interested in history and archaeology, you will enjoy Alanya Archaeological Museum. Its collection includes artifacts from Roman, Greek, and Seljuk periods.
Organizational Details
- I will guide you on the tour, or another guide from our team.
- Please note that Alanya Fortress involves many ascents, descents, and stairs. Consider your health condition and physical fitness (especially in the hot season, i.e., from late May to mid-September).
- I recommend having an adequate amount of water, headwear, wearing comfortable clothes, and comfortable (sports) shoes.
Additional Expenses
- Entrance to the cable car is around 8-9 euros per person (or you can reach the peninsula's peak by other means of transportation).
- Entrance to Damlatas Cave is about 2-3 euros.
- Entrance to Alanya Archaeological Museum is approximately 3-4 euros. Children under 8 years old enter for free. You need to have the child's identification document with you.
- The museum can be replaced with a visit to the port citadel: entrance to Red Tower and shipyard is about 3-4 euros, children under 8 enter for free.
