About this experience
You will walk through the authentic Kaleici quarter - see the main sights, peek into cozy corners, admire the stucco and mosaics, enjoy panoramic views from observation decks, and soak up the atmosphere of Antalya's heart. I will share stories about the people who lived in these places, share legends and stories about the city's past and present.
What to Expect
Main entrance to Kaleici - Hadrian's Gate. One of the ancient Roman antiquities built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian.
Kesik Minaret. In the 2nd century BC, there was an ancient temple here, then a church dedicated to St. Mary, and later a mosque with a minaret added. I will tell you the legend of how lightning struck the top of the minaret.
Hidirlik Tower - a defensive structure with mighty walls. In ancient times, it protected the city from pirate raids.
Mausoleum with a tower shape resembling Roman tombs. The inner walls of the tower have preserved ancient frescoes, and excavations have revealed a whole part of the foundation of buildings lost underground.
Karaalioglu Park. From its observation decks, you can see the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean coast.
Mermeli Beach in the port harbor. Here you can encounter sea urchins that do not thrive in polluted environments.
Old Marina Port with defensive fortress walls. The locals have preserved it in its original form. It offers a magnificent view that painters take advantage of - capturing the sea and the nearby small houses.
Iskele Mosque - one of the smallest in Antalya. The stone building stands on four columns, and at its heart, there is a water source.
Yivli Minaret - the symbol of Kaleici. Inside, there is a spiral staircase with 90 steps. You will learn why, according to scholars, there used to be 99 steps.
Saat Kulesi Clock Tower, which is 100 years old. It was built specifically to house clocks gifted to the city by the German Emperor.
