About this experience
Zemun is an ancient neighborhood with orange-tiled roofs, fantastic panoramas of the Danube, and the grand Gardos Tower. You will learn about the times when it was an independent city and immerse yourself in its unique atmosphere. I will tell you about the events that have taken place here over the centuries and what sets Zemun apart from the rest of Belgrade.
What to Expect
History and Romance at Every Turn
Zemun will captivate you with its narrow streets, single-story houses, and picturesque Danube promenade. Our introduction will begin at the Main Post Office and Aviation Square. We will stroll through a wonderful park, see the opera theater, and visit the oldest church in the area, Nikolaevska Church. We will walk down the central pedestrian street, climb to the Gardos Hill, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the city.
Past and Present
Zemun is an authentic district with a rich history. You will learn how and why it has been a bridge between the Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungary for many centuries. You will also hear about the city's modern life, traditions, and the Serbian people's mentality. If you wish, at the end of the walk, I will recommend cozy restaurants with national cuisine.
