About this experience
Vysehrad is a place of myths. A place of prayer and meditation. Vysehrad plays a secret role as a cauldron in which the national idea is brewed. To understand Czechia, its culture, traditions, and history, you must touch the origins in the legendary residence of the Czech princes.
What to expect
"You are our sun, Vysehrad" - this is what the Czechs say. The citadel of Vysehrad is a baroque fortress, calmly and mysteriously situated on a rock rising from the depths of the Vltava. It was from Vysehrad that the mythical princess Libuse predicted the birth of Prague and prophesied that the glory of the city would reach the stars. You will learn more about this and much more during the tour.
- History. The history of any nation goes back to the gray mist of ancient times. You will find the roots of the Czechs at Vysehrad. I will tell you about when and from where the Slavic tribes came to these lands and why Bohemia began to be called Czechia. About the mythical princess Libuse, her prophecies, and the meaning of the name Prague. I will tell you why the Czechs call Vysehrad the Slavic Olympus and how the events of recent days intertwine with the legends of old. All the major events in the history of the Czech people have left their mark on the history of Vysehrad.
- Myths and legends. I will tell you about Lucifer's relationship to Vysehrad and the mysterious Devil's Stones; what the Czech chronicles from Cosmas of Prague tell about the emergence of the first ruling dynasty in Czechia - the Przemyslids. About the rule of Princess Libuse and the Czech Amazons. About Libuse's baths and her retinue. I will show you the place where once a year you can enter the Vysehrad rock and find Libuse's treasure. About the Crystal Palace of the Vltava Water Dancers and how they replenish Libuse's army. In the Vysehrad casemates, at the intersection of underground passages, we will definitely make a wish. I will tell you about the black dogs that guard Vysehrad and what esoterics think of them. And I will definitely introduce you to the old Vysehrad resident - the black raven, who is over 300 years old.
