About this experience
I invite you to embark on a journey through the vineyards of Bordeaux to get acquainted with the wine production process and learn how the history of France is connected to the history of its wines. Get ready to taste exquisite red and white wines from the Pessac Leognan appellation, discover what turns ordinary wine into the famous Sauternes, and feel all the nuances of taste at tastings in Chateau Yquem, Haut-Brion, and Pape Clement.
What to expect
I will pick you up from your hotel in Bordeaux and we will visit Chateau Yquem - the homeland of the famous and one of the most expensive wines Chateau Yquem. We will explore the wines, the secret of which lies in the unique microclimate that allows noble rot to develop on the grapes. While in neighboring regions it can ruin the entire harvest, here winemakers welcome it, as it turns simple white wine into the famous Sauternes that delights the world. Its notes of exotic fruits, viscous oily texture captivate and delight with each sip. The French traditionally like to pair Sauternes with foie gras. Why don't we enjoy this combination too?
In one trip, we will get acquainted with red wines and dry white wines of the Pessac Leognan appellation. I will tell you the history of these places and explain why the English praised this region so much. We will visit Chateau Haut-Brion - the only chateau from this region classified in 1855 as 'Premier Grand Cru' along with the wines of the Medoc - 'Chateau Lafite', 'Chateau Latour', 'Chateau Margaux', 'Chateau Lafite Rothschild' and 'Chateau Mouton Rothschild'. I will tell you about wine classification and its history.
We will also visit another famous estate - 'Chateau Pape Clement', founded in the 13th century by the Archbishop of Bordeaux. Later, he was elected pope and took the name Clement V. Since then, this chateau has been passed down to the archbishops from generation to generation.
We will taste AOC 'Graves' wines - rich, round, with tobacco notes, hints of prunes, and coffee. I hope this journey will be informative and give you a lot of pleasant moments!
