About this experience
I invite travelers to take a stroll through the medieval streets of Bordeaux, enjoying the architectural ensemble of the 18th century. I will take you along beautiful embankments and city sights, tell you about the favorites of Queen Margot and the secrets of local winemaking. And of course, I will share my love for Bordeaux and my knowledge of this most beautiful city, famous not only for its history but also for its magnificent wines.
We will walk through the narrow cobblestone streets of the oldest quarter 'Saint Pierre', stroll along the 'Port of the Moon' embankment. During the tour, you will learn why the English love this city so much, I will tell you the history of local winemaking, how the grapevine appeared here, and how the region turned into a huge vineyard.
We will look for similarities between the city of Bordeaux and St. Petersburg, and also gossip about the life of Queen Margot and her numerous favorites. And of course, I will introduce you to the main sights of the city, such as the 12th-century Cathedral of St. Andrew, where the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine took place, and you will learn how her personality influenced the fate of the whole of Aquitaine.
We will also see:
- 15th-century Cailhau Gate,
- the monumental monument to the Girondins with its dramatic fate,
- the elegant Bourse Square with the Fountain of the Three Graces,
- the miniature Gambetta Park,
- Port of the Moon with a medieval stone bridge and the townspeople’s favorite attraction - the unique Water Mirror fountain,
