About this experience
Among the plethora of establishments with an average bill of 100 euros and average Venetian cuisine, locals guard traditional mini-bars from tourists. You won't find them on your own, but on this excursion, you will go behind the scenes into the world of aperol and prosecco, uncover Venetian wine stories, listen to the local dialect, and simply enjoy a pleasant evening.
What to expect
Traditional 'bacari'
We will visit two mini-bars in beautiful but non-touristy areas of Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, San Polo. Bacari have no seating, and everyone stands at high tables - but you won't have time to think about any discomforts, as you will instantly immerse yourself in a typical Venetian atmosphere! We will discuss why wines were drunk more than water here, why a glass of wine is called 'ombra', and where and how to drink at local prices.
Venice in a glass
In bacari, you can order a spritz cocktail, invented in Venice, prosecco, and other types of wine. As snacks, you will be offered sardines with pine nuts and raisins; fried crab claws, an assortment of fried vegetables, cod puree in milk, sausage with aromatic herbs, and many other canonical Venetian treats.
