In a local enoteca, you will explore the specifics of wines from different regions of Italy: Barolo, Brunello, Montepulciano, Amarone, and others. Hear the history of winemaking, the main winemaking regions, and their paths to worldwide fame. Learn about 'perlage,' the types of Italian sparkling wines, Prosecco, 'metodo classico,' and the basic tastes and aromas of red and white wines.
Grape Secrets
I will talk about what is produced from dried grapes with noble rot, the 'methode Charmat,' and the wine king. You will also learn about international grape varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay - and local varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Sangiovese, Glera, Corvina.
Tasting Basics and Venetian Bacari
Discover what the color and consistency of a drink say, how to interpret its multi-layered aromas, break them down into components, and describe the bouquets. Understand how to recognize wines, describe sensations, choose wines based on your preferences, and what to pay attention to when reading wine labels. In two typical bacari, using the correct tasting technique, you will try white and red varieties and, if desired, taste delicious 'cichetti' snacks - local culinary masterpieces!
