About this experience
Dear guests, I invite you to an unforgettable gastronomic journey, during which you will visit the Yerevan market, learn all about Armenian products, learn to cook our traditional dishes, and enjoy the food and wine immensely.
Program
Yerevan Market. We will start the morning at the Armenian market - it's a theater of one actor-seller and a vivid marketing master class. Here you can buy any farm produce, from juicy seasonal vegetables and fruits to aromatic pickles and fresh Armenian cheeses. I will tell you about the variety of local products, their features, and what you can cook from them.
Hor Virap Monastery. The monastery is about a half-hour drive from Yerevan. You will discover the history of this sacred place and enjoy the breathtaking view of Mount Ararat.
Road out of the city. After choosing the products, we will head to my countryside house. On the way, I will show you a cave where the oldest shoes were found and rituals were held in honor of making the divine drink - wine. I will definitely take you to the old Areni winery, where you can try good Armenian wine.
Dinner at the countryside house. The architecture of the house is interesting: it is built on a rock, and we transformed a piece of rock into a wine cellar - there is everything you can imagine! Dried fruits from peaches, persimmons, apricots, figs, pomegranate wine... You can try and buy all of this at your discretion.
Together we will prepare dinner, the process will be in the form of a master class in a friendly atmosphere: some will drink wine, some will cook, some will brew aromatic coffee. I will teach you how to cook:
- popular khorovats - shish kebab from large pieces of meat;
- iki-bir - shish kebab with lemon juice and lard;
- meatballs kofta;
- dolma - meat in grape leaves, but cooked Armenian style;
- bozbash and putuk - two completely different dishes of meat with peas;
- kyalagosh - an old dish;
- the famous hash - a very thick and hearty meat soup;
- khshlama from lamb...
After a hearty dinner in a friendly atmosphere, we will take you back to your hotel.
