About this experience
I offer you a small walk from Venice to Sant'Erasmo, a tasting of the only wine fully grown and produced in the Venetian lagoon with a snack of purple artichokes (and more) at a price as for locals. In addition to a fine lunch, snack, or dinner, you will enjoy Venice from one kilometer away, learn about the island history of the Most Serene Republic and much, much more.
Sant'Erasmo
Few people know that in the lagoon there is an island almost as large as Venice - Sant'Erasmo. Affectionately called "our garden" by locals, as almost all the greens sold at local markets are grown there. A third of the island is vineyards, and due to the unusual salty soil and special drainage irrigation systems, the wine produced here has an additional characteristic - sapore di mare (sea flavor). Many city residents have a dacha here, and there are no tourist crowds or urban dust.
The most famous locally grown vegetable is the purple artichoke, highly esteemed by gourmets all over the world but only grown here. It is eaten raw or fried in batter, pickled with shrimp or just with lemon and in many other variations. Once a year, a special festival is held - Sagro in honor of this edible flower, at the beginning of the season - in May. Accompanied by wine poured by a Venetian winemaker, on the shore of the lagoon, in the morning or evening - such views and snacks will not leave anyone indifferent!
