About this experience
To me, Dusseldorf is the center of Western Europe. Once its industrial heart, today one of the largest cities in Germany, which preserves traces of its Teutonic past. I will take you through historical epochs, so that you get acquainted with the fate of the city and its inhabitants, learn the biography of the country and the whole Old World. Through Dusseldorf, you will immerse yourself in the way of life of Western Europeans and try to understand what awaits Europe in the future.
What to Expect
From a medieval village to the capital of the Lower Rhine
Unlike other European cities, the historical center of Dusseldorf remained almost untouched after the war. Despite this, the city managed to turn into the main financial and industrial center of the region. The tour will include: the Senate Square, the Rhine embankment, and a walk along the famous Kö-Bogen. You will learn about the role of Dusseldorf in German history, see unique examples of architecture and modern art, and get to know the daily life of the locals.
Meeting the Dusseldorf locals
From bourgeois way of life to bustling metropolis of the Old World - you will get to know the habits and customs of the locals over the centuries. We will talk about traditional crafts, local dishes, and the peculiarities of Dusseldorf dialect. You will have the opportunity to try regional specialties: liqueurs, mustard, beer, and cheese.
The cultural 'face' of the city
I will introduce you to the work of the talented Dusseldorf poets and composers, show you the places where they lived and created. You will have a chance to see the creative atmosphere of the city, visit art galleries and music venues, and learn about the influence of Dusseldorf on the European cultural scene.
