About this experience
To immerse yourself in the true spirit of the Hungarian capital, you need to explore its main sites on foot. This way, you will see not only palaces and monuments but also feel the city's rhythm, discover its hidden spots, and get a better understanding of the locals. I will take you from the most beautiful square in the city, Vörösmarty Square, to the Vigadó Palace, where Liszt and Brahms performed, show you Buda Hill, the Parliament building, the 'Shoes on the Danube Bank' memorial, and of course, you will enjoy the views of Budapest from the hilltop lookout.
What to Expect
The walking tour consists of two parts and includes sightseeing in the central Pest area and the Buda Castle.
Exploring Széchenyi Square and the Danube Promenade
You will visit Széchenyi Square and admire its main attraction—the Gresham Palace. A true masterpiece of art nouveau, the palace will impress you with its architectural grandeur and set the tone for the entire walk. You will also see the Hungarian Academy of Sciences building nearby. After exploring the square, we will stroll along the promenade, where you can see Buda Hill, the Parliament building, and Gellért Hill. Special attention will be given to the most poignant landmark—the 'Shoes on the Danube Bank' Holocaust memorial. I will share the history of the monument in Budapest and explain its significance to the city.
Crossing the Old Chain Bridge to the Best Lookout Point
The tour continues across the historic Chain Bridge, connecting the two historical parts of the city. Here you will learn about the bridge's construction and the local jokes associated with it. Once on the Buda side, you will ascend to the best viewpoint on the hill, where you can admire the panoramic view of the city and feel the true atmosphere of Budapest—one of the most beautiful European cities. You will also visit Vörösmarty Square, known for its historic buildings and famous cafes, and see the Vigadó Palace, where Ferenc Liszt and Johann Brahms performed.
