I invite you to immerse yourself in Uzbek culture through getting to know them. You will learn ornamental embroidery Suzani, and then discover the art of miniature painting. Under the guidance of masters with 30 years of experience, you will create your first pieces and learn about national traditions.
What to expect
Embroidery Suzani Master Class
Uzbek Suzani is a national ornamental embroidery on fabric, handcrafted from threads of various colors. It is highly valued worldwide for the jewelry-like finesse of sewing. However, the patterns also contain ancient magical knowledge and beliefs. By car, we will head to the embroidery center, where I will tell you about the mysteries and history of this craft. Then you will have a 1.5-hour master class, where under the guidance of an experienced master, you will learn how to handle the thread and fabric yourself.
After the master class, we will take a break for lunch: I will show you a place where they cook very delicious pilaf :)
Miniature Painting Master Class
Miniature painting is another important art of Uzbekistan. Everything depicted in miniature is a symbolic reflection of a person's inner world. Just as a poem requires interpretation, so do miniatures carry hidden meanings. After lunch, we will visit the Abu al-Kasim al-Shaykh Madrasah - a historical 16th-century building housing the workshops of the Academy of Arts. Craftsmen who have dedicated their lives to painting will gladly share their knowledge with you. In just 2 hours, you will create your first miniature.
