What to expect
Excursion in Vilnius (2.5 hours)
I will tell you:
- about the Baltic settlements on the hills of Vilnius;
- about the burial mounds of Lithuania, where pagan burials are still found to this day;
- about the founding of the city, the legend of Prince Gediminas, who founded our city;
- about the battles with the crusaders who repeatedly burned ancient Vilnius;
- about the complex path of Christianity in Lithuania;
- about the baptism itself, which will happen in Lithuania last in all of Europe;
- the history of the country's main cathedral;
- the history of famous Vilnius residents.
We will visit:
- The Upper Castle. The fortress of Prince Gediminas, which for many centuries had strategic importance for the city;
- The Lower Castle. The palace of the rulers of Lithuania;
- the defensive 7-meter wall (16th century) - the main stronghold of old Vilnius;
- ancient city gates, preserved since 1517, where the most important Christian relic of Lithuania is located;
- The Cathedral;
- the most beautiful and touristic street of the city Pilies, where cathedrals were built from the Middle Ages, nobility lived;
- the town hall, where city life boiled in the Middle Ages, workshops were located;
- Town Hall Square, where fairs, meetings of citizens, and executions took place;
- Then we will have a light snack in a cheese cafe and head to Trakai (27 km from Vilnius).
Excursion in Trakai (3-3.5 hours)
Excursion to the museum of the island castle in Trakai (1.5 hours)
The castle captivates from the very first second of acquaintance. Restored in 1987, it now looks even more majestic and elegant: literally hovering over the lakes surrounding it. In the castle is the museum of the history of Lithuania, which we will visit together.
