About this experience
You will appreciate the grand Colombo with its luxurious park, temples, memorials, and colonial English buildings. Then, you will board a boat and explore the city from a different perspective: we will sail through rich and poor neighborhoods, see expensive houses and huts. Along the way, I will tell you interesting facts about the vibrant and unique Sri Lanka: its traditions, history, and culture.
What to expect
Diverse Colombo
You will visit all the main places of the city and more. The excursion program includes:
- Gangaramaya Temple - the main Buddhist temple in the city and at the same time a museum, where you will see original items from all over the world. Among them: ivory items, vintage cars, printing presses, archaeological finds, and jewelry. I will tell you how all these exhibits ended up in the capital of Lanka.
- Old Parliament - I will show you the majestic building in traditional English style, preserved from colonial times.
- Viharamahadevi Park - a picturesque corner where you can relax from the city noise and stroll among exotic trees. And also take a photo against the backdrop of the local mayor's office, built as an exact replica of the White House in Washington.
- Independence Memorial - a grand monument erected in honor of the island's independence from the English.
- River cruise by motorboat - we will sail through the Hamilton Canal and the Kelani River. We will observe cormorants and pelicans, see ancient Buddhist temples, and huts of local residents in the poor areas of the city.
